Help with A-level chemistry(AQA)

Hello,
I am a Y13 student with a grade D in chemistry, im Just wondering what do you do to get to an A/A*, how do you revise, what are your strategies? How do you prevent yourself from being burnt out.

Would be wonderful to get a response as i really need some advice.

hello,
i got an A in chem so im not sure how useful i'll be but you definetly still have time turn that grade around. firstly its important you have good knowledge of all the topics. this, for me, meant just going over my notes and lesson powerpoints. after that its all about applying the knowledge in the exam setting
past papers are great! a lot of the questions repeat and you can only get used to them if you do tons and tons of past papers!! if you run out of past papers do questions from the previous spec
flashcards are also great! if you dont have any time to make them right now, i say you buy some (anki decks tend to be very good) - this will be especially useful for inorganic as a lot of it is memorising equations and colours and properties etc.

i hope this helps!!

There isn’t a lot I disagree with or have to add to be honest.

I would say that the best advice I have for elevating oneself just that little bit more is mentoring others less confident in chemistry stuff you have studied yourself. This is not only excellent active recall, but it also offers you practice with wording things in an accessible and concise manner which will hopefully elevate your marks even more.

The one thing I found potentially problematic with your advice, however, was using the old past papers. Please note that doing this itself isn’t a bad idea, but the questions tend to be more basic and some areas that were assessed on the old spec are no longer assessed on the new papers (cobalt and chromium are no longer assessed - they were replaced with aluminium chemistry and the old mass spectrometry questions were replaced with TOF).
