GCSE triple science

Is triple science at GCSE level a crucial foundation for A-level sciences? Should I take it or keep my options open and do something I love?

No - lots of people do combined science then go onto A Level sciences. If you want to go into sciencey A Levels then it can help, but by no means is it mandatory. If you really want to do another GCSE, then you probably should do it (or do similar things related to that subject in your free time)

Would I be able to keep up with the workload if I taught myself the extra curriculum that would be in triple science if I don't take triple?

Probably - if you work consistently and make enough time for it. I wouldn't say there's a lot of extra content in triple science, although you would need (at least) an extra hour per science to learn and revise it. It might be harder to learn and understand if you don't have a teacher formally teaching it to you though
