Student finance issues

I plan to return to university september 2025 but am concerned about my student finance

In 2022 i was at university for one year and 3 months meaning i claimed a full year plus 1/3 of a years student loan

On a call with student finance they said that even though it was a single payment that 1/3rd still counts as a full year meaning using their (course length + 1 gift year - years studied) i am only entitled to 2 years instead of 2 and 2/3rds years (i also am unaware if this means just maintenence or tuition or both)

Obviously 75% of the population with me included would struggle to shell out £15,000 to support their final year at uni so i am very distressed on what i can do if there is anything i can apply for that could increase my chances of getting support from sfe or if certain universities have systems to help students in these situations

Any help of any sort would be appreciated i need as much advice as i can get… i believe its extremely unfair that 3 months equates to a full year as that is sort of the line between possible and impossible for saving enough money…

If you’re starting a new three-year course, you’ll only be entitled to the tuition fee loan in years two and three. You will be eligible for any maintenance loan and grants for all three years.

If you left your course for reasons beyond your control (health, bereavement, etc.), then you could submit a Compelling Personal Reasons claim to fund the missing year.

Also, what course are you planning to study? There are some exceptions to the above rules.
