How LGBTQ friendly is NTU Brackenhurst?
Okay for LGBTQ people, how friendly would you say NTU and the surrounding area is? I'm applying for September 2025 and that's also when I'm planning on starting transitioning. I'm just a little nervous as I'll be wanting to be in student accommodation.

Hi,
As an LGBTQ graduate from NTU (2019) who studied primarily on the City campus, I can say that I felt really at home here; I made a lot of lifelong friends and never found my identity to be an issue. I was a member of the NTU Drama Society during my studies, and it helped me settle in and find my community. I would take a look at the NTU Pride Society, and if you're interested, Brackenhurst also has some campus-specific societies, like Brack DnD and Brackenhurst Art and Creatives.
I recommend taking a look at our Inclusive Community page for more information as well. The Respect at NTU initiative underpins a lot of what NTU and NTSU do to promote equality from the classroom and accommodations to societies and social spaces. We'll also be celebrating LGBTQ+ History Month this February across our campuses, so this is hopefully something to look forward to if you join us for 2025!
Brackenhurst itself is based outside the city centre close to Southwell, and prides itself on its sense of community, we have more information and a short video tour available here, but I'd recommend visiting on one of our upcoming open days if you get the chance.
