Further maths edexcel international modules

Im thinking of taking FP1, FP2, FP3, M2, S2. But im not really sure what to take for the last module - should I take M3 or D1? (Ive heard that the grade boundaries for D1 is pretty low but its likely to make a lot of silly calculation mistakes & the whole paper is rlly long. But for M3, is harder & grade boundaries are kinda high. Any suggestions???

I take the regular Edexcel further maths course, and im not too sure if our modules are quite similar or not, but if they are id probably suggest taking decision over mechanics, although i genuinely think its more about what you prefer and they appeal in different ways. (I take decision for reference, and my edexcel board doesnt make us do further mechanics if we dont want to so this could be biased)

I’d say you’re probably more likely to enjoy m3 if you really like mechanics etc, especially considering you’ll have lots of experience in mechanics from doing it otherwise and in M2. I'm pretty sure almost everyone taking FM1 in my year (i think somewhat of an equivalent?) finds it more interesting than decision although they all think its harder.

On the flip side, the main reason I preferred decision is that although its tedious, and the papers are very long, its quite easy to grasp most of the concepts and the module is more knowledge based rather than practice compared to mechanics. Combined with the fact that the grade boundaries are lower i think there’s a lot more room for error if you know the content well compared to if you know the mechanics content really well.

This is just my opinion though, and i dont know the spec too well but i hope it helps anyway

Why not S3?
