Historical data?

In UCAS what does historical data imply,
For a course I am interested in the requirements are AAA, however I have predictions of A*CC, but it shows that 75% of students were accepted with these grades. Does this mean that there is a decent chance I will receive an offer? Like wise for a course that ranges from grades AAB - BBB it had an acceptance rate off 100% for A*CC?

I think it more so applies to people who have already received offers but did not meet their requirements on results day but were accepted anyway. But I think it differs and depends on each uni. I would still take my chances but make sure you have some safe choices in which you exceed their grade requirements

Hi @Dasen123

Those grades could refer to either those who already had an offer and achieved below as well as those who were accepted through clearing.

For a detailed explanation of exactly how the historical data is calculated, you can find out more on this webpage on the UCAS website: https://www.ucas.com/applying/you-apply/what-and-where-study/entry-requirements/understanding-historical-entry-grades-data

'Accepted' does not mean 'made an offer with these predicted grades'.
And, you dont know how many of these were concessional acceptances on Results Day because of extenuating circumstances, special widening participation schemes, mature students etc. These stats are actually very misleading and no way to choose a Uni course.

the grade bits are all about what grades were accepted AFTER someone had an offer and picked them as firm. It doesn't take into account predictions.

The only bit that shows your chances of getting an offer is the "1 in 2" or "8 in 10" applicants got an offer section
