Economics and Finance

Anyone had an offer for this course yet? I submitted my UCAS weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet.

Hi Anon 🙂 glad to hear you've submitted your UCAS application! It's ok and normal to have not heard anything back yet - we'll still be considering your application.

Let me know when you do hear back, or if you have already!

Hi there,

It’s completely normal not to have heard back yet, especially since Economics and Finance is a popular course. Response times vary depending on the university, so it’s not unusual for some applicants to receive decisions within days, while others may wait several weeks or even months. Admissions teams often take their time to review applications thoroughly, especially during peak periods.
If you’re concerned or want an update, you can always contact the admissions office of the university directly to check on the progress of your application.

Best of luck with your application!

It can be very frustating when an uni hasn't got back to you quickly, especially if your friends are getting offers. Just remember that the 14th of May is the deadline for unis to get back to you. As you applied to a reasonably competitive course, it may take a while. Also if the unis you applied to tend to be highly competitive, it will take time for them to get back to you especially as the equal consideration deadline just passed a few weeks ago. You can call admissions of the unis you applied to if you would like but they may not be able to give you a definitive answer for when you'll get a reply. Just try to not check your UCAS every minute, but it is easier said than done to be honest. Good luck.

Hi Anon, @Divinebandit has given some great advice here. It's still normal to not have heard back from universities at this stage, although I know that can feel stressful. The Business School in particular is very competitve for us, and the admissions teams are considering lots of different applications which can take some time. While we do have until May to respond - most of our faculties will be working towards having most decisions back to applicants by the end of March so hopefully you will hear back before then.

If you'd like to drop them an email you can contact [email protected]. I don't think they'll be able to tell you much more via email than I've advised above, but if you'd find some reassurance from reaching out directly then you can do. We know waiting can be nerve-wracking but until you hear otherwise you're still being considered, and we really do appreciate your patience while we work through a high volume of applications ☺️

Hi,

You should contact the admissions team for an update if you are worried (include your UCAS number in the email). But as the others have said, there is a high likelihood that responses are a little slow just because of the influx of applications.

The email for the admissions team at SOAS is [email protected]. You can find the emails for the admissions teams of other universities on their websites.

I hope this helps 🙂

Just got this message "Your application to University of Strathclyde for Economics & Finance has either been unsuccessful, withdrawn or is full. You will no longer be considered for this place." Not sure why as my grades were predicted AAB which is higher than the ABB-BBB on UCAS. Maybe because I am Scottish and not enough places?

Did you apply to multiple courses within the business school at Strathclyde? Sometimes you get an automatic rejection if you have as they only offer you a place in one course within the business school.

No, just the one.
