why did you choose to leave your school for sixth form?

I’m interested. For current year 11s, why did you choose to go to another schools sixth form? And if you chose to stay at your current school..why?

Hi @ekhsaa_18

I am not a current year 11 however I did have to make this decision when I was.

I decided to stay at the same school for 3 main reasons.
1) It was more convinient to get to. I was able to get a school bus directly to the school rather than having to get a couple of buses.
2) I felt comfortable at my school as I already knew all of the teachers and where everything was. I also had a lot of my friends who stayed at the school.
3) They offered the subjects that I wanted to study.

It is a difficult decision to make and so it is important that you carefully consider your options. Maybe try making a pros and cons list for each option.

Hope that helps!

My school doesn’t have a sixth form, & even if it did, the school rn is so standard that it wouldn’t have had anything to offer me.

I made this decision years ago (im not a current year 11).
But i chose to stay at my schools 6th form. I didnt even look at colleges or anything. Id already kind of made my mind up that i wanted to do a-levels and stay at my schools 6th form. I loved the school and wanted to stay. I guess i was also a bit narrow minded and didnt think of other options.
During my 2nd year of 6th form, i decided i didnt want to go to uni. I applied for a level 3 diploma at one of the local colleges (not my closest one, the other one slightly further away) as i decided i wanted to work with kids (teaching assistant, nursery nurse etc) but i didnt want to go into teaching any more.
I liked 6th form. I had some good times and met some great people. 2 of my subjects i loved. Didnt have much in the way of friends. But although id loved school before, and still liked it during 6th form i got tired of the place by the end of 6th form. I still liked the place, got good memories etc but i was ready to leave. Went onto college for 2 years and loved every minute of it. I kind of wish id gone there sooner. Although i would have missed my secondary school a lot when id first left after year 11, i would have got used to it. And leaving there and going to college (rather than staying on in the 6th form and delaying leaving my secondary school for 2 years) might have done me a bit of good.
