how is life at university of east anglia?

I have received an interview from UEA but I wanted some information from students themselves as to how they find it there - is the student life quite good?

It's pretty decent. The town is reachable, and Norwich is good for shopping generally. The town is pretty decent, and it's somewhat what you can see yourself raising a family in. The problem with Norwich though is it's a bit remote from other cities and towns, so if you're bored easily it might be too little for you. For most people, it should be sufficient.

In terms of the uni campus, it's very much self sufficient. It probably has the largest range of student societies and clubs in the east of the country. The uni is known to be the best place for parties. It also probably has the best sports centre of all the unis out there.

As an alumni, I can say though that if you don't like drinking or sports. the uni might be a bit boring for you.

Hi! @firephoenix 🙂
Firstly, a very well on getting an interview, you should be very proud!! 🙂
I'm currently a second year natural sciences student and I'd love to share what the student life is like! Is there a particular aspect of student life you're looking for? And what course have you applied for?

UEA is based in the city Norwich which is super student friendly. There are many independent shops and cafes, making every run into the city centre unique! As well as this, many offer student discounts, making it quite a budget-friendly city. As well as this, it's only a short bus ride to UEA, with buses as frequent as 7 minutes.

Surrounding the city are many kinds of different landscapes you can visit easily via buses/trains, from beaches, rivers, the Broads and beyond. I'd definitely recommend going on a day out to the Broads with friends! I'd also recommend going to see the UEA broad if you ever have free time to kill between lectures!

Within UEA is the SportsPark, with many different sports clubs you can join, a great gym and an Olympic sized swimming pool! The memberships are discounted for students, making it budget-friendly, but if you don't want to commit to a singular sport, there are also weekly group exercise classes.

There are also many societies you can join, ranging from art, to cultural societies to even unique hobbies. Joining a society can be an amazing way to find friends who share your hobbies and interests.

There is an amazing Learning and Enhancement teaming at UEA, that offer drop in help with coursework/assignments if you need any. Also, the Student Information Zone (SIZ) is incredibly helpful with all sorts of things! From asking for help with your degree, to lending equipment for exercise/games with friends. The staff at the SIZ are always just so welcoming.
The UEA Library is massive (6 floors) with many kinds of areas of study, including independent desks, bookings for rooms for group work, many charging sockets etc..
The actual lecturers and staff at UEA are incredibly supportive and friendly.

Because UEA is a campus based university, everything you need is on campus from a Spar shop, to a post-office, hairdresser etc... You can have a look at the campus via the virtual open day feature.
I hope this helps give you an idea of UEA and I wish you the best for your interview! 🙂
Let me know if you want to know more about any aspect of life at UEA!
