Hi all, im pretty sure you have all taken the Intermediate maths challenge UKMT. I just took it today and was pretty confident in it, probably will advance to the grey or pink kangaroo round but in year 11 I can definitely reach the olympiad stage which is something I will get a certificate for - good for the cv for college. The hardest thing was the time as the questions are easy but just need more problem solving skills

Glad it went well! I did it in year 9 but didnt do great (silver i think)

@sdfj Good thing I chose further maths because turns out im starting to love maths and problem solving. I got 46/53 in the further maths test which I forgot to tell you guys 😅 which I would say is decent. I wrote 7 - 1 = 8. and lost 2 marks so yeah that's stupid by me.
Notes for me:

Revisit Identity matrix and matrix transformations

Do geometric proof including lines on corbettmaths

Actually attend further maths after school - I missed 3 lessons uh oh.

Wow that’s a fantastic score! I make a lot of careless errors with simple arithmetic so don’t worry too much…

I think I really started liking maths around the first term of Y12! But the Fsmq for me was a very enjoyable stretch and I’m glad you’re enjoy fm

So sorry for late reply, I had to hurry off to school.
So basically, you meet with a PhD student in sessions where you learn about higher education and such and do various exercises to do with it. At the end you have to do a 2500 word presentation on a topic based off you future aspirations and present it to a professor at a university by literally going there. Last year people went Cambridge. Now there are talks about going to Kings College London. Obviously, both unis are amazing but Cambridge would have been amazing to go to. BUUTT, that is if you even get accepted through the application round and if your work submitted through the sessions is good enough to get picked by the PhD student. Also if your presentation is really good you get a certificate of appreciation from the sector you want to work in e.g Medicine from that university. THAT WOULD BE SOOO GOOD FOR PERSONAL STATEMENT!

Update:
Today particularly has been great here's what I got done:

✅Factor theorem and polynomial long division review

✅Identity Matrix and Matrix Transformations

✅Spanish flashcards review

🎉Other things include: Cooking, Set new goals, Hopped on Fifa for a bit

More things I got done on previous days:

✅Spanish writing exam complete - In the 20 marker I wrote too much 👀

✅Spanish module 2 complete resources

✅Extract from, The Prelude DONE ready for revision in year 11

✅Grade 9 on electrolysis test which is quite nice.

✅Business entrepreneur and entrepreneurship (1.1) Review ( Need to look at past paper questions )

🏀Other things include: Table tennis, basketball and more career research

Targets/Streaks:
Corbettmaths Higher and Higher Plus 5 a day: 1 days
Duolingo: 0 days
Workout: 2 days

-> "Today was hard, Tomorrow will be harder, next week, month and even year will be harder, but the future will be bright"

Have not heard back from my application or UKMT.
This month is gonna be a banger😈💪 - AnonymousTaken:biggrin:

Wow congrats on the productivity!

You're quite far ahead in FM? I can't quite remember but I think we did polynomial division and factor theorem in the first few months of Y11. And matrices already? :eek3: It's not even in A-Level maths... :colone:

oh i also do fm and we did polynomial division and factor theorem in early jan but were on sketching quadratics + range and domain of them (although our teacher has been off the last 2 weeks 😪)
