I got no offers from university, what shall I do

Im wanting to pursue aerospace/mechanical engineering at University of Sheffield, my home city, im not eager to move out since im not confident with that idea! Though I got no offers applying for a foundation year for 4 different engineering courses, I am predicted ABB in biology chemistry and physics though sure I could achieve A*AB/A if I put more work in. I only achieved a grade 6 in GCSE math, my goses were pretty mediocre. I don’t know whether clearing will offer much from Sheffield, if there’ll be anything free for my desired courses?

What would be best to do? Pursue something else, take a gap year and do A-level math and apply next year?
I would contact local mechanical engineering companies in your area and see if they are taking on trainees. When you meet with them explain that you could consider taking engineering at degree level in time.

Some people work for a company and then are trained internally by their company and then also complete a degree level course that is financed by their employer.

Did you meet the academic entry requirements in full - ie. correct A level subjects? Were these Foundation courses designed specifically for those either with low grades, or with specific widening participation entry criteria that you don't meet? It sounds like there was probably a very simple reason for these rejections.
You can wait till results day and apply for a course through clearing. I can guarantee you, you will find a suitable course through clearing. So do not worry if you have no options at the moment.

You have a good set of predicted grades and I'm sure you'd be accepted onto apprenticeship schemes. Take a look at those.

Hi there,

try not to worry too much - in the mean time until you get your final results on results day have a think about potential universities and their courses which may accept students with the grades you are predicted - then on results day you can go through clearing and apply to those universities.

May students find places through clearing and everyone will be on hand to help

Good luck

Hey mate. I see why this worries you but right now focus on your a levels and getting those grades. The clearing process can be stressful but I know someone who got into Aerospace engineering at uni of Leicester through clearing with CCC and someone at Sheffield doing Mechanical With ABB but I have heard offers for less have been made. Foundation year application is also a choice you can make also look out for UCAS extra.
Have you been made unsuccessful or just waiting for a decision still?

If you have been made unsuccessful then have you written and requested feedback on the reason for rejection?
