Criminology control assessment help!!!!!!!!!!!

I just did my mocks for criminology as the actual control assessment is in January and i got bad results. For the 2.1 (compare campaigns) i got 5/10 when in October i got 6/10. For this particular mock i wrote a 2.1 draft and included all the details needed, i managed to write all of it in the time given and wrote around 4 pages. I thought i ate lowkey with the AC but turns out i didn't!!!

I got feedback saying that my aims are too descriptive even though i tried to include similarities and differences. My other room for improvement was to compare if campaigns are local/national/global campaigns which quite confused me as i made sure to state if they were local , national etc. I asked my teacher and she literally just said what the feedback said and was no help because she didn't tell me where i went wrong etc.

Could anyone give me tips on how to achieve the top mark band (i looked at model answer's before the mock and used it as a guide for my draft)

Hello @unknown.u,

I remember the Criminology Controlled Assessments very well and they are not easy but there are things which you can include in your response to increase your chances of getting into the top grade boundary. One of the most important things is to consult the specification and mark schemes which can be found on the WJEC website. When I sat these assessments I was allowed these resources in the exam with me.

Content
The specification lists the following content for AC2.1 Compare campaigns for change.

change in policy

change in law

change in priorities of agencies

change in funding

change in awareness

change in attitude

You should therefore attempt to research at least one campaign from each of these categories, and you may even want to try and get an example of both a national and a local campaign for each of these categories.

Mark Scheme
Mark Band 3 which can also be found on the specification expects: "Clear and detailed comparison of a range of relevant campaigns for change. Explicit links to planned campaign with reference to specific and appropriate sources to support conclusions."

Therefore, in terms of comparison, some of the things you may consider looking at would be the type of campaign, whether they were national or local, the methods the campaign used to spread their message, fundraising as well as success to name just a few categories. You should consider each of these for each campaign in detail. To increase your chances of this detailed comparison you should get specific facts and statistics to compare.

The first key part of this mark band is that it expects "a range of relevant campaigns for change." For me, this was researching around 12 different campaigns and trying to use as many of these different campaigns in the answer. For instance, for each category, I may have considered two to four different campaigns and compared them with each other.

The second key part of this mark band is that you must include detailed and explicit links to your own campaign which you will create as part of LO3. You can include some justification about why you did what you did under this part, but you must compare your campaign with all the others which you have considered.

You can find all the details in the specification as well as examiner reports on the WJEC website for Criminology: https://www.wjec.co.uk/qualifications/criminology-level-3/#tab_keydocuments.

I hope this helps, if you have any further questions please do let me know.

I have researched campaigns and chose different campaigns from each category. I also described if they were national/global/local campaigns and the rest e.g. methods/media, successes/weaknesses, aims etc etc. i basically did what it asked me to do and included my own campaign however i got mark band 2, and the teachers feedback is quite literallly useless as it only tells me the small mistakes. I mean if they're small mistakes why did i not atleast get like 7/8 out of 10
