The University of Manchester Supervisor-led MRC DTP

Does anyone have experience with Supervisor-led MRC DTP at the University of Manchester?

I have been nominated to the final panel interview, and I am curious about the rejection rate in the final for program of this kind. As supervisor can only nominate ONE candidate, It sounds a bit of impossible for me that the panel would reject the only nominated candidate. If the candidate was rejected, would it mean the whole project proposed by supervisor team needs to be shut down?

As far as I know they interview at least twice the total number of available scholarships. That is, some of the projects won't get funding as it depends on the quality of other students who have been nominated for other projects.

This information is not available anywhere but you can ask the postgraduate admission team by sending them an email.

hi - I gotrejected after final interview last year. not all candidates can get funding, so for ~100 projects proposed for the funding, only ~1/5th (in my year) will actually have been allocated funding. whether you're successful or not depends on how strong your application and interview is, which can be mitigated by preparation, and practising with people who have gone through a similar process in your lab. Best of luck!

Anyone heard back on this yet? I'm freaking out after seeing all the threads and the odds of getting in.

Good! I was given an informal offer for the PHD project I applied to. I hope it goes well for you!

Does anyone know if accepting the offer is binding? I am still waiting to hear back from other places and I would want to see how all my applications go before deciding.

Is there a specific time limit we have to decide and reply them?
