PhD Neuroscience applications UK (international student)

I'm applying for fully funded PhD positions in Neuroscience in the UK. I'm really passionate about my field and currently working full time in the industry which gave me a great amount of research experience, but I sadly don't have anyone that I can consult when preparing my applications. I have received some interview invitations and some rejections so far.

I'd really appreciate it if any of you in a similar field with successful PhD application experience can give me feedback on my application and how I can improve it. I'm really stuck and don't know where else to look for help!

Currently applying for programs like KCL MRC, SWBio, LIDo, and Cambridge, which are probably highly competitive even for a home fee status applicant.

Though I’m not a neuroscience PhD student, I am currently a PhD student (in microbiology) in a DTP cohort, like LiDo. I’m happy to have a look at your personal statement or answers to the small of the application questions if you like (just take out your personal details) but the resources that I used were videos from Hira Javaid who was a PhD student at Oxford. Especially the personal statement writing up and the interview prep. She goes through what to pop in your personal statement and that really did help me. I think what the panel is looking for is too see that your passionate and eager about the project and the field, so the fact that you already have experience in your job should be enforced in your personal statement as not everyone will have this. You’re looking for that ‘something’ that makes you unique. Happy to somewhat help though

Hey, I assume by now you have started your PhD if your applications were successful. May I ask where you ended up and how you solved the issue of international fees? I am currently in the same position and worry about my competitiveness to secure a studentship for international fees, as places for us are usually limited to 1-5 per programme..

Ohh I see, fingers crossed for you! May I ask if you have found another way to cover the fees that is not a studentship programme like the MRC-DTP etc.?

The only thing I can think of is if you work at a company who's willing to fund it for you but I don't have anything else, sorry
