Hiya, hope you are well. I am heading off to uni next year to study law and french. Your chosen subjects sound great! French clearly shows communication skills, essential for working abroad. English and sociology are typical A-levels taken by students who wish to embark on a career in the law, or like you say diplomacy. Ultimately, the A-levels you choose shouldn't have too much of an impact on the decision of a university, apprenticeship or job provider. Best thing to do is to choose the subjects you thoroughly enjoy, can preserve with when they get tough and can excel in. I personally didn't take English, but from all accounts English Literature tends to be preferred for a law career as you can gain more transferrable skills. However, I wouldn't overly worry about this. Choose the one you think you will enjoy the most and you will do the best in. Here is a link to a website that talks through A-level choices for law if it would be helpful: https://www.thelawyerportal.com/blog/what-a-levels-to-take-if-you-want-to-study-law/
Best of luck with your studies and your future career! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
