Uni Firm and Insurance advice

I need some advice regarding picking firm and insurance choices for uni next year.

I have applied to 5 unis and have been accepted for all of them, and the order in which I would rather go to them is:

Warwick - MORSE - A*A*A

Bath - Econ and Maths - A*AA

Southampton - MORSE - AAA

Birmingham - Maths and Econ Stats - AAA

Liverpool - Actuarial Maths - ABB

I am predicted 3A* but I am apprehensive about putting Warwick firm and Bath insurance as I am taking Further Maths and it doesn't take a lot to drop down to a B, and I know both uni's wouldn't accept that, whereas I suspect Southampton would be a lot more flexible.

I was trying to look at the available clearing courses last year because I know Southampton had quite a few but I couldn't find any.

Additionally, on my Warwick offer they said I could get a reduced offer if I got a distinction in AEA (I failed the TMUA), which neither I nor my teachers had heard of, so if anyone had any info on that such as how to register that would be great.

You have until JUNE to make this decision.

Plenty of time to go to Offer Holder visit days, listen to more detailed course presentations, look around, ask questions and make some carefully thought out decisions about where you will feel happiest.
Hi @18sadams!

It’s amazing to hear that the university of Southampton is one of your options 😊

I understand the concern about grades dropping, but please do not let this discourage you from choosing where you really want to go! I encourage you to contact admissions tutors from the top two universities you have chosen and, as McGinger said, you have plenty of time to attend talks etc.

Of course, whilst no course is guaranteed to be in clearing, this can be a great option. I personally found my course in clearing after changing my mind about what to study. I was a grade below the entry requirements and I’m still here! Sometimes clearing courses don’t appear until on the day, and it is worth checking university websites as well as the UCAS clearing page where they may not appear.

If you would like to contact someone from the admissions team at Southampton, please do so!
Below is the email for the social sciences admissions, this may seem strange but encompasses admissions for the school of mathematical sciences (which MORSE is a part of!)

I wish you all the best and I am sure you will do amazingly!
