Hi everyone,

Thought I'd make this thread to track progress for everyone applying this year to UBEL DTP.

Has anyone heard back yet re: their preliminary application?

Same, haven't heard anything. It's weird because they said outcomes would be sent today (the 20th) but nothing's arrived yet. Their office is closed till the 2nd Jan, so I guess if they've not sent anything out today, we probably won't hear till then?

Oh interesting, how did you find out the office is closed? That's really not giving people who did get through enough time to write a full proposal though 🙁 they should at least update the website so people know when to expect to hear back.. it's stressful enough as is!

Yeah no, been checking all day and nothing. honestly, I think it's quite cruel to keep us waiting like this, not to mention the lessened amount of time for full proposal writing.

I'm not sure, I was rejected in this round last year and I got an email. But perhaps you're right ... who knows

The auto-reply if you email the ubel-dtp mailbox says that their office is closed till the 2nd of January, which is how I found out.

Someone mentioned we may be the unlucky ones, though I'm not entirely sure. I have a feeling this could just be an administrative issue rather than anything else, but I guess it's a waiting game for now.

From my (painful) experience of being rejected last year, my application updated from 'pathway review' to 'unsuccessful' .. I am inclined to agree with it being an administrative issue (if only just to keep hope hahaha)

Mine continues to say 'Under Pathway Review', it looks the same as it did earlier today / since I submitted it

Mine used to say 'Under Pathway review' but since morning, I'm seeing it changed, but neither positive nor negative.

I clicked on 'preview' your application and it says 'Last edited: 19 Dec 2024 15:16 (GMT)' - which I'm assuming is UBEL who've updated the status but have maybe not allowed us to view it? Annoying because you'd think they'd make sure it was done correctly before they went on holiday for a week!

Hi! In my case the last edited was on the 2nd of December: the deadline when I worked 😞
Did someone reach the pathway lead or supervisor about the current situation?

Hey!! I sent an email to them since I did not receieve any update on my application and I got an auto-reply:
Thank you for contacting the UBEL DTP.
Our office is currently closed for the Christmas holidays and will reopen on Thursday 2nd January. We will look into your query and respond within 5 working days upon our return.

I agree!! My application status since submission is - under pathway review!! I think something is off with their system and they went on holidays without knowing/ fixing it! They should notify us even if the application wasn't successful!

Same thing here. It looks like we'll all probably (unless by miracle someone picks this up as a matter of urgency on Monday, which is highly unlikely) be waiting to the 2nd Jan for someone to resolve this.

Finding this thread is such a relief, I thought I had done something wrong with my application! I also have 'Last edited 19 Dec 15.19 GMT' under Preliminary View, but it doesn't show anything else.

I also saw this morning that on the portal, under 'ESRC Main Studentships Competition: 2025 Entry', the complete application deadine has changed from 31st of January to 2nd February 2025... Maybe they have pushed it back a couple of days because they will be sending the Preliminary Application Outcomes a couple days late? Just a thought.
