question regarding application

I'd like to do biomedical science at Liverpool or Manchester, and my predicted grades are ABC so I'm unable to meet the requirements, so I'm planning on doing a foundation year. Both these courses have a Biosciences foundation year which then leads onto Biomedical science and any other bioscience degree. I'm wondering, for my personal statement, does that mean I can apply with my biomedical science personal statement, or do i need to alter it to talk about just biosciences instead? Since it's a biosciences foundation year leading onto biomedical sciences, so I'm unsure.

You’ll be fine to apply with a biomedical science personal statement. If the natural progression after the foundation year is to go onto a specific biosciences degree then demonstrating ways in which you have explored a specific area of biosciences (i.e. biomedical science) may benefit your application. Universities also don’t know where else you’ve applied; you may be applying to foundation years at Manchester and Liverpool, but they can’t rule out the possibility that you have applied to biomedical science degrees at other universities, simply because they do not know.
Hey there!

I assume you're looking specifically at the Biomed courses at Uni of Liverpool and Uni of Manchester, and not courses at all of the Universities in those areas. If you still want to study in the city Liverpool and with your grades, I would recommend checking out LJMU! We offer a BSc Biomedical Sciences, which is accredited by IBMS (UoL and UoM are NOT accredited to my knowledge). We also offer a BSc Applied Biomedical Sciences, which gives you regular NHS lab practice throughout your degree.

The accreditation means that the modules on this course are in accordance with the IBMS requirements for a Biomedical Science qualification, and you can also join the Institute as an eStudent and have access to their resources! As well as this, you won't need to do any top up study before becoming a practising Biomedical Scientist, like you would have to do if doing the other courses, and of course you would not have to do a foundation year, meaning you would be fully qualified in 3 years

I would greatly recommend looking into this as our minimum entry requirements are BBC (112 UCAS points) which are well within your grade predictions!

BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science | Undergraduate course | Liverpool John Moores University

Thanks and good luck,
