Student finance funding and Adult nursing

Hello

I’m a 1st year nursing student and I am doing well academically unfortunately I have some personal issues and it will be very hard for me to do all of the hours we need for a placement I am worried what my options will be

1. If I don’t do any of the placement but I pass all the modules would I be eligible to repeat 1st year and get full funding again , how about the NHS grant ? Or can I negoatite going to year 2?

2. If I manage to do 50% of the nursing placement and I pass all the modules would I be able to proceeded to year 2 ?

According to section 7 of the NHS LFS guidance booklet:

NHS LSF is not available if you are required to repeat all or part of an academic year. You may be eligible to re-apply once you enter your next course year, where applicable.

In terms of student finance, if this is your first degree, then you should be entitled to funding if you need to repeat the year.

It is very unlikely that you will be able to proceed to year 2 without completing your placement blocks. Check your course handbook and then speak to your tutor to see if you have the opportunity to make up your missing weeks during holidays.
