Would I be able to go to university by doing a level 3 childcare apprenticeship

So currently I will be doing a child care/ early years education level 3 apprenticeship. I want to do primary education in university I do plan on retaking some GCSE. I do believe a level 3 apprenticeship is worth two a level passes. So I will do an extra a level in order to go to university. I so desperately want to go to university. Does any one have any advice I’m 19 and feel as if I’m way too old as most of my friends have been accepted to Russel group university’s and I know people who study abroad. I feel like such a loser at the moment!

If the qualification is UCAS accredited there will be no issue. There is no such thing as too old. You are not in a race with your friends, you are in a race against yourself.

An apprenticeship in itself is not an academic qualification - are you doing a formal qualification alongside this, if so, what is its exact title?

What do you want to do at Uni - any ideas?

Hi @nazzareath

I would recommend checking to see how many UCAS points your qualifications are worth so that you have a good understanding of where you currently are and what you need to do to meet the entry requirements for a course. You will also needs GCSEs in maths, English and science to become a primary school teacher.

At university there are students of all ages, from 18 year olds who have just left school to people who have already had a different career, so try not to worry about being too old.

I am a current primary education student so let me know if you have any questions about the course.

Hope that helps!

Sophie.
