MPharm at Plymouth

Has anyone started the new MPharm course at Plymouth?

What is it like?
Is it weird doing a Uni of Bath course at another Uni?
What are the facilities like?

Hi! I’ve started the new MPharm course at Plymouth in September, so I might be able to answer some of your questions.

Firstly, I’m really enjoying it - the course is practically the same other than some minor tweaks in teaching style to suit the cohort.

In terms of the course being at Plymouth, I would say it’s different but in a good way. You get the same course, but you now get the option of doing it in Plymouth, which has its own pros and cons over Bath, so in this case, I’d recommend looking at both and asking if you’re considering Bath or Plymouth. Personally, I enjoy being by the sea, and the Plymouth campus is very easy and close together compared to Bath.

Lastly, the facilities are pretty good. The Pharmacy practice suite is newly built, so the facilities are brand new, so that’ll be where you can learn your clinical skills and do smaller group work. The labs are good as far as labs go (I think anything is better than sixth form labs). And sometimes you’ll use Plymouth lecture halls, which I can’t really comment on as we haven’t used them yet!

If you have any more questions, then let me know, but if not, good luck with your application and your studies!

Meaning that some people are not quite up to the demands of the course?

Oh, no, I meant it as people learn differently so the lecturers accommodate for that. E.g. we asked for practice questions to be embedded into lecturers to go back and do in our free time.

I just meant it as that the course has the flexibility to suit the cohort and not stuck to how the course is traditionally ran up in Bath.

Hope that clears things up!

Hey there! 👋

Glad to hear you're interested in the MPharm course! Although I don't study this course, if you have any questions about the university in general, the city, or anything else you'd like to know, feel free to reach out!

Best of luck! 😊
