Architecture A-levels

I had a question about my A-levels. Currently, I'm studying maths, physics, art, and photography. A-levels and I am thinking about dropping one of them. I feel like it might be too much to handle and since I had really ambitious plans for uni (applying to Cambridge and Edinburgh) I need quite a few A*. So far I feel like I might not be able to achieve the Best grade in physics so I was thinking about dropping it, but then Cambridge might value it much more than some of the subjects such as photography and generally, I feel like I have two soft subjects which might not be the best thing for top unis. I feel like I will be able to achieve Best possible grades in art photography in maths, but I'm afraid that physics might be the problem. I would appreciate any advice or experience.

Thanks!

I think photography would be the one to drop unfortunately. If you have any Cambridge colleges your considering to applying then it would be worth checking their preferred subjects but even otherwise it'll help you get an idea. I'm almost certain maths and physics are often included e.g I think they are at homerton college, and art may be also? It certainly would help when it came to making a portfolio.

Thanks a lot for the advice!

I saw that most of the colleges don't have any requirements, and the others have Maths or Physics requirements. None of them requires both... I was also thinking about doing an EPQ.

I’m hoping to study Music at university and am currently doing Maths, Physics and Music A levels. The fact that I did physics was definitely a big part of the interview. The whole purpose of the interview is for the tutor to analyse your thinking process. For example when asked a question on Mongolian vocal techniques, the tutor asked my to think as if I were in a physics interview (not that there was a right answer!) Although A level Physics is a pain, it puts you in the right frame of mind for Oxbridge.

Have a look at the following thread, which lists current A level requirements for RIBA-approved courses:

Cambridge considers photography to be a 'less helpful' subject for its courses:
