Gcse drama

What made you pick drama?
How are you feeling?
How are you finding the work?

Hey, I did Drama GCSE so I might be able to answer your questions - I chose drama because I thought I'd have a nice mix of GCSEs (seeing as my other subjects weren't as creative, like computer science etc.), and because I quite enjoyed it from years 7-9. You could also ask your current drama teacher if they'd advise you to take it, as mine did and that's what made me feel confident in choosing this subject. In terms of work, this varies by exam board but mine - as I'd imagine most are - is composed of coursework and a written examination at the end. Drama is not a chill GCSE - so don't take it if that's your reason! It's just as hard as any other subject. In fact, we did some of our coursework in year 10 so, if anything, it was my most stressful subject at certain times. That being said, at the end of year 11, when we were sitting our exams, because we'd completed so much coursework and the written paper was worth only about 40% of our final grade, I definitely felt more relaxed (less content to revise as well!) So as long as you enjoy the subject (you don't need Oscar-worthy acting skills to get a grade 9!), and put the work in, you'll definitely find it an enjoyable GCSE as I did. Let me know if you have any more questions

Oh, hope it went well! Yeah, you're right in that not many people seem to do it, but trust me it's an enjoyable GCSE for sure! Personally I'm glad I chose it so hopefully you will be too!

I'm in yr 11 and I picked drama for a GCSE.
I personally absolutely love it!
I picked it because of three main things. 1) I just love performing and being around performers. 2) To work on my self confidence and public speaking. 3) because GCSE's can be hard work as stressful and I wanted something that was a little more relaxed.
The best thing about drama is once you have done your live performance, you only have one short exam to go. It's ridiculously easy!
