Can university offer me a different course if I didnt get original course applied

Hey guys,

I’m applying for midwifery course at Bradford University. I’m slightly worried I won’t get in because I know it’s pretty competitive, I’m wondering will Bradford university offer me the choice to do adult nursing if I don’t get in. Or is this not how it works?

Hi

Yes sometimes universities will offer a alternative course if unsuccessful with there original application.

Midwifery is so highly competitive because of the limited numbers that universities take in for potential students midwives ( due to the training involved) and it is also down to the health board trusts required numbers of fully qualified midwives at the end of each 3 years courses.

See what happens okay 👍 👍
You can still work on a maternity ward as a adult nurse as you'll be involved with everything except doing any birth's

You are welcome 🤗 🤗

Another thing - have you considered working as a MCA (maternity care assistant/ support worker) on your local maternity hospital wards as you'll be paid whilst you are being trained, yes get trained in all aspects of midwifery and then majority of MCA goes on and become fully qualified midwives after going to university.....

Yess I ideally want to be doing that but there’s not many vacancies available in my area. I will still consider looking during my gap year cause then will have a level 3 health and social care certificate.

hi
Yes I know that not every maternity hospital unit will be looking for MCA but it's worth looking into and see what happens.

You can do HCA, MCA, MSW with you your level 3 health and social care as just make sure that the application states what they are requesting for the job you are applying for okay.

If you have your requirements for university wouldn't it be worthwhile applying for the course to start next year and if you don't get accepted then you can look at doing HCA MCA and MSW for a year and you can apply again. It would save you taking a Gap year but understandable using the Gap year to get experience and earn money before university is good.
