Nationality when applying to uni

Im chinese (chinese passport) but I've been living & studying in europe for nearly 8 years. I've heard that some uni's set higher standards for students from mainland china (since its extremelly competitive cuz ppl study quite a lot), so Im wondering if they would classify me as a chinese mainland student or as an "european" ,since nearly all of my education has been completed in europe
Unless you have been granted citizenship and hold a European passport as a dual citizen then your nationality is unchanged and not something you can lie about.

China doesn’t recognise it.
A large number of Chinese passport holders also have citizenship or passports for other countries (especially people from Hong Kong who have both BNO and Chinese passports).

OP isn’t asking about applying to universities in China. Non-Chinese universities will recognise someone with a Chinese and an EU/UK passport as a dual national.

I meant in the way as to add its not worth it to get dual nationality as you mentioned it, as if the Chinese find out you will have to lose your Chinese nationality.
