Car Damage

Hi guys,

Whilst parked in works car park (multistory) somebody hit my car and didn’t leave a note. I took photos for evidence, and then removed the surface scratches. There is about 6-7 areas of deep scratches and exposed metal.

The car park has no working cameras on the floor I was on. I forgot that piece of information when I parked there.

Was wondering if anybody had a rough cost (SE Lnd)? Also wondering how long it would take to be fixed, was trying to not let my parents find out - already stressed enough and don’t need ~£300-1000 worth of extra stress.

Thanks, going to cry in a corner.

You can either claim through your insurance, subsequently affecting your no claims bonus, or go to a local garage and ask them how much it'd cost to fix. If it's only cosmetic though, you could just leave it. It'd probably take 1-3 days to fix, longer if the damage is more extensive but no-one here will know exactly, you'll have to contact a garage.

Claiming through insurance with no one to blame would likely cost a good bit more than the repairs sadly, after taking into account the excess and 5 years+ of raised premiums :frown:

If the damage is down to tne metal I say deal with it, as it only gets worse.

I agree with @StriderHort - It depends on the garage (paint works) you choose to repair your car. Your local taxi guys will most likely know the cheapest and the best paintwork repairers. Scope those offering services online then ask one of the private hire or taxi drivers who they would recommend (leave a good tip if they give you a lift!) The smaller back street repair places (and there are some good ones if you ask around) might charge around £350 to £650 cash dependent on the location and surface area they have to repair. Try sending some pictures for call in for a ball park figure (but be aware this is not a quote and the cost could go up when they see it) Those who do Insurance repair work will charge and arm and a leg - stupid money. But don't cry in the corner - grit your teeth and say "I love driving" Next will be the drop links from pot hole damage. It's a bit like opening your 365 day advent calendar - every day a new bit of damage or faults or tax or bus lane ticket or speeding ticket or excess emission ticket or entering the give me your money zone ...... oh the imaginative list of taking more money from the deep pockets of ordinary drivers.
