Hi, I was wondering about Newcastle PARTNERS offer I am predicted ABB and the course I would like to apply for requires AAB. I am eligible for the PARTNERS program and saw that the offer can be reduced to BBC for my program. Does this mean if I get an offer I would be offered BBC or would it be above that?

Hi Anonymous
If a course you are interested has typical entry requirements of AAB, the PARTNERS entry requirements for this course would be BBC. As such, if an applicant applied for this course as a PARTNERS applicant, their application would be reviewed against the PARTNERS entry requirements, not the standard entry requirements, and if an offer was to be made to them, it would be at the PARTNERS entry requirements of BBC.

The PARTNERS Programme is Newcastle University’s supported entry route for students from schools and colleges in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Find out more about the PARTNERS Programme. The first step of the admissions process involves screening all applicants to assess whether their predicted or achieved academic grades meet the minimum entry requirements.
The entry requirements for PARTNERS applicants are ABB at A Level in any subjects excluding the following: General Studies; Use of Mathematics; World Development; Communication and Culture; and Critical Thinking. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Levels, we require a pass in the practical element.
To satisfy the academic criteria for this programme, PARTNERS applicants must have achieved ABB, or be predicted to achieve within one grade of the entry requirements (i.e., BBB at A Level).
Following this, applicants will be given an ‘Academic screen’ score based upon their most recent achieved grades and their UCAT test result.
Please note that our Medical Admissions Team may consider PARTNERS and ‘standard’ applicants separately, and PARTNERS applicants may have a lower interview selection points threshold and threshold to be made an offer.
We will award up to a maximum of 40 points based on an applicant’s most recently achieved grades. For example, an applicant who is taking their A Levels will be scored on their eight highest GCSE grades. Appendix 1 of the MB BS Admissions Policy includes tables of achieved grades and related points that an applicant will be awarded.
All applicants must have taken the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) in the same year they apply through UCAS. Applicants will receive a score out of 60 for their UCAT score. Appendix 1 of the MB BS Admissions Policy includes a table of UCAT scores and related points that an applicant will be awarded.
The ‘Academic screen’ score will be assessed against the interview selection points threshold to decide which applicants are invited to interview. We cannot advise what 'Academic screen' score will be required to be invited to interview, as this will be dependent on applicant performance in the cycle.
Whilst we do not have any specific work experience requirements, at interview our selectors will be looking for examples of how applicants have shown a commitment to caring. This can include volunteering in a hospice, nursery, or elderly care home.
Following completion of the interview, all applications will be reviewed. The final score each applicant attains will be weighted equally between their ‘Academic screen’ score and ‘Interview’ score. Applicants will be ranked and offers made to the highest-ranking candidates.
Our Medicine admissions team have created this video outlining the new admissions policy step-by-step. You may also wish to consult the MB BS Admissions Policy here for further guidance.
Applications to the University's undergraduate degree programmes must be submitted through the UCAS system, and you can apply online here. If you have any queries about the UCAS Apply system, please contact UCAS on: 0371 468 0468.
The next possible start date is September 2026 and the application deadline is 18:00 on Wednesday 15 October 2025.
