Can I just check the scenario you're describing, to ensure I've understood it correctly?

In this scenario someone didn't path GCSE English or Maths and so attends a college where they are able to retake these - and is successful at passing them. Having done so, they then wish to attend a sixth for college (i.e. one where a student studies A levels, level 3 BTECS etc.), and you're asking if this is possible. Yes, it is.

A few things to point out:
1. The college at which a student retakes GCSEs may also offer A levels and level 3 BTECs too, meaning that there would be no need to switch colleges, necessarily.
2. Most sixth form courses are for two years - for example A levels are two-year courses, as is a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma. What would the one year course you'd be seeking to do in this scenario?
3. You likely need to apply for the sixth form college well in advance of actually achieving the GCSE Maths and English resits, so ensure you carefully check the deadline for them to receive applications. If they choose to offer you a place, they'll likely make it conditional on being successful in the resits.
