Access to higher education & studying abroad
Hello All,
I’m 19 years old British girl. I’m currently working in a child care setting and hold a level 2 qualification. And I was going to do the level 3 but I have now decided I do not want to do the apprenticeship. - but I have now decided I wanted to complete an access to higher education. I am going to be retaking some gcses. At foundational level - I yearn to have a great education. To study abroad since forever I’ve been desperately wanting to study abroad. I’m going to complete an access to higher education.( I might complete it online via learn direct center if uk colleges do not accept me in )I have had a dream about going to university of British Columbia in Canada and woke up and realized my situation. Although I know about my lack of education performance. I really want to study in either America or Canada. Preferably Canada. I know the higher to access education is a uk qualification to help people progress to university uk level. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of anyone who has gone down this path. Or if there’s anyone who could possibly give me some advice. Please do not give me any judgements as I am asking anonymously due to the fact I do not want anyone I know to think im pushing my luck. I really want to do this. If anyone has any professionals to contact or email. Or what exactly to do please let me know! I’m just gonna spend the rest of this year resetting my maths and combined science and religious studies. Because I only passed two GCSEs. I’m willing to put the hard work. I just need help 🙁

You can try Health related course perhaps, you won't regret

I really want to study in either America or Canada
Then look at UK degrees with a 1-year Study Abroad option as part if the degree.
Doing an entire degree in North America will cost you ££££ - so unless you have access to serious money thats probably your only viable option. And you do actually need to work out what you want to study at degree level - and why.
If you just want to travel and experience these countries, then look working at something like Camp America - they would love your childcare experience - Camp America - the best international experience for your camp - or other work opportunities North America Trips & Tours 2025 / 2026
