Hi there,

I can see you’re carefully weighing your options for an undergraduate public health course, which is a great step. While all universities offer something unique, I’d suggest having a closer look at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Although it’s not on your list, it’s worth considering. UEA has a well-respected School of Health Sciences and offers strong public health-related modules with excellent links to the NHS and public health organisations. Plus, UEA is known for interdisciplinary teaching, so you’ll learn not just from public health experts, but also from those in policy, medicine, and social sciences.

The campus is in Norwich, a beautiful and historic city that offers a great student community with lots of opportunities to volunteer in health-related settings. The city’s size makes it easy to get around, and living costs are generally more affordable than bigger cities.

I’d suggest reaching out to UEA’s admissions team to ask if they have a public health-related course that aligns with your interests. If you’re passionate about making a difference in communities, the supportive academic environment at UEA would be a huge benefit.

Good luck with your decision, and let me know if you’d like any more insights! 😊

Best wishes,
Daniel

Hello!

Public Health Courses are a great option for a broad overview of human health and epidemiology. I can speak on my personal experience as a third year Medical Science Student which offers a broad range of human health and pharmacological studies with an insight into epidemiology, public health and biotechnology. For more information on my specific course have a look here: https://www.aru.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/medical-science

And for all our public health courses look here: https://www.aru.ac.uk/study/course-search?keywords=Health

From my experience, public health courses open up a lot of opportunities in the health sector. If you have more specific questions please feel free to reply to this thread.

Best Wishes,

Hey, how are you? 🤗

Great to hear you're interested in studying Public Health!

Have you booked onto any upcoming open days for the universities you've listed above? That way you can get a feel for each of the universities and see if you can picture yourself being there. At an open day, you can chat to the academics who'd be teaching the course and attend course talks and get a better insight into public health, placement opportunities, careers the graduates have gone onto etc. You can also chat to current students on the course so you can get a real insight into life as a student there.

You'll also be able to explore the facilities you'd be learning in, take tours of campus, the accommodation, you could make a day of it and explore the town/city afterwards! You can also speak to support services and see how they can best support you as a student, check out the student union and all the cool things you'll be able to experience as a student.

I'd say to also check out the course modules for each of the uni's, see what stands out to you. Perhaps you could come up with a pros and cons list and compare that way. Do the uni's offer a placement year? Career support? You could ask yourself these sorts of questions.

If you can't attend an Open Day, I'd recommend checking out the uni websites and seeing whether there's a virtual experience option, so you can virtually check out the campus and the facilities. On the course pages, or on the uni's website and social media channels, you might also find student blogs, profiles and videos where they share their student experience and an insight into them studying the public health course too!

Good luck with everything, I wish you all the best with your university journey and hope you have a fantastic time studying. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to help
