As a 2025 IGCSE student, when should I apply for sixth forms? Mocks are in a week.

As the question states, I'm perplexed as many of my classmates are going to be applying after mocks -- should I do that, or apply once I take my IGCSE exams -- on results day, when my results are going to be better?

I'm a 2026 IGCSE Student and I'm applying to schools this september (Start of year 11) It sort of depends on what sort of schools you want to apply to, if you wanted to apply to an external independent school (as I assume that you go to one) then it would normally be too late. Most 16+ offers have gone out now, for state schools you should apply after mocks, normally with the mock results that you give they would offer you a conditional, if you reach their requirements. Don't apply after your exams, it would be too late, most good schools would have stopped taking applications by then. Sixths form schools are very competitive and you should apply, as soon as you get your mock results, most offers would be a conditional but if you are lucky enough, you could get an unconditional from some schools. I wish you luck for your mocks! ☺️

Depends on the schools you want to apply for. More competitive schools usually by now have already closed their admissions. Look at the schools you’re interested in & determine if you’ll get your predictions changed before or after the school’s admissions close. If you have the time, then wait. If you don’t, don’t. Gl!
You most definitely don't wait until results day to apply. You should really have either applied already, or be in the process of applying now. Either way, get cracking!
