Veterinary medicine interviews 2025

Hi, I was just wondering whether anybody have gotten interviews for UCLAN, RVC or harper adams for the foundation year? I haven't heard back but I haven't gotten rejected so I'm not sure. Bristol moved me to the accelerated degree, but I doubt I'll get in😭

Hi, I did my RVC interview in Camden on the 17th of December, received the invite on the 4th. RVC does interviews in Asia in January but I think they aren't doing any more in the UK. This is for the 5 year BVetMed, the Gateway does interviews later, so if you have applied for that there's still time. As for the rest I haven't applied to, I've heard UCLAN has been sending out interview invites in batches so they should have more to come but haven't heard much from H&K. Hope this at least a bit helpful, I would recommend you head over to the official vetmed applicants thread here, there's a form you can use to input when you receive responses from your choices and a spreadsheet where you can see other people's responses both on the first page, as well as the general posts throughout the thread from people updating their application status.

Hi, current RVC gateway student. RVC tends to send out its gateway interviews around Feb and March so don’t worry if you haven’t heard back yet! I’m not too sure on other vet schools but they tend to interview for their foundation courses after the 5 year courses so don’t stress too much

Oh wow! Would it be okay to ask you some questions regarding the interview style and general course?
Hello,I have been trying to find some information regarding the Veterinary Medicine and Surgery degree with UCLAN. I can see that it is accredited with RCVS which is great. However, I cannot find if it has EAEVE accreditation? If it doesn’t, does it mean that it will only be possible to work as a vet in the UK if having a degree with that university? Thanks for the information!

Hi, I've messaged UCLAN about this issue, and they've confirmed that they don't have any other accreditation right now apart from the RCVS. This means we will only be allowed to work in the UK. However, in 2028, they'll receive official accreditation. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your reply!

Like all the new schools they get full UK accreditation when the first cohort graduates so UClan isn’t UK accredited as yet but will most likely be in a few years as were Surrey and HK. However it is only on achieving UK accreditation that they can attempt anything wider. Surrey achieved European accreditation this year10 years after opening. However if you pass your degree before they gain European accreditation I don’t think you benefit from that accreditation

Sure! The interview style is an MMI format but I’m afraid I can’t go any further into detail of the content, but I can answer questions about the course

It’s a degree in 4 years rather than five for graduates who have already done a relevant degree like bio veterinary science.

I was just wondering if you could give some interview tips, like recourses you used, and also what the gateway year is like and what consists of. Also, because I'm coming from Manchester, what would you say the average cost there for you, because I understand, the North is much cheaper than London lmao

I googled typical interview questions for MMIs to help for my interview, but they mostly want to get to know you as a person and what you’re capable of so don’t stress too much. Unis tend to have info on their websites for what you’ll need. The gateway course covers a lot of the basics of biology (specifics can be found on the RVC website) and includes a lot of group learning and practical activities along with lectures. As for the cost it is quite a lot (I also come from up north so it surprised me), rent is around £1,000+ a month for any places close to the uni but at the Hawkshead campus from 3rd year is cheaper. Hope this helps! <3

I didn't meet one of the requirements, which I think was that my Sixth Form wasn't apart of their aspiring schools programme, so someone from the admissions team moved me even though I'm an undergraduate and that degree is supposed to be for graduates.

I wasn't planning on going to Bristol anyways, so it doesn't bother me😭

You should contact the school all the same and let them know that if a transfer was to be done it should have been onto the standard five year course from the gateway and not the graduate course. It’s hard enough getting offers without errors like this being made.

Hello,
I applied to UNCLAN a while ago and was wondering when you usually start the interviews for vet med?
Thanks 🙂

Update: I think it might have been a computer error, because it changed when I last checked to an undergraduate degree. My teacher said I shouldn't be too worried as they'll probably compare the contextual offer to my grades
