Mistake in edexcel igcse physics textbook or am i just stupid

Edexcel igcse physics textbook. Radioactivity topic- page 223- the key point on the top left.

Arent nucleons protons AND neutrons? And so Z- the atomic number- is the number of protons right? Not number of nucleons. Did they just make a mistake or am i missing smth?

They didn't make a mistake, and you're correct about the definition of nucleons - you just misread it, I think! The placement of stuff is a bit confusing there.

Z is number of protons, A is mass number (which is number of nucleons).

Oh ok tyy. When i look at it now i think they put the comma and then z as in to say z is no of protons. I thought the equal sign was just randomly in the next line lol.
