How significant will a Sutton Trust Summer School be valued on my UCAS application?

Applying to my top choice university having succeeded the widening access entry requirements of AABB, and on track to have achieved the standard entry requirements of AAAAB by the end of S6. (One A away).

With little guidance from my teachers, I still feel relatively confident with my personal statement and extracurriculars but I just feel as if I could have done more, regarding that.

How significantly will attending the Sutton Trust Summer School at my chosen university boost my application? Do you think they'll view it as more a lot more favourable because of it?

I did one and barely mentioned it on my med application. It all depends on what you learn from the summer school. If you have learnt more important and valuable pieces of info about your motivation/inspiration to study your course (which you will likely do) include them. If not, save the space on your PS and just include it on other experiences section where you can put work and stuff. But remember summer schools are also about having fun and meeting new people, so I would defo recommend it regardless of your UCAS. But short answer is: No UCAS will not favour you because you did it over someone that didn't if you have similar experiences. But if you don't have lots of extracurriculars to rant about, you are gonna have to milk the crap out of the summer school which is not a difficult thing to do since them summer schools are planned with that in mind.

As you are probably aware, only specific Unis are linked to Sutton Trust, and sometimes only for one or two subjects - so it isnt something that in itself is going to make an offer guaranteed or even 'more likely' at any other Unis. However - doing this does show your commitment to 'going to Uni' and doing the hard yards to get there. You can use topics covered in the simmer school in your PS to show that you are thinking/working beyond just 'A level', and that you enjoyed being stretched with this higher level work.

Btw, for those who meet the specific widening participation criteria, applications for 2025 Sutton Trust (for those currently in Year 12 in England/Wales, Year 13 in Northern Ireland, or S5 in Scotland) open on the 14th of January and close on 25th March - Eligibility - Sutton Trust

How would the uni know u attended their programme, as I've been told to not specify which uni I went for the programme and just detail what I've learnt.

Hi i went to a STSS and they should remember you. In the extracurriculars section you can also add the school so they aren’t directly mentioned in your statement
