What are SAAS rules regarding taking time away due to medical reasons? Will I keep getting my SAAS payments? If so, how long for?

Hello, I would definitely get in touch with SAAS privately on this one, as it will likely depend on your specific status with the university.

Speaking not from a Scottish perspective here. The way I've seen this done normally is the university will change your status on their system if you have taken a formal leave of absence, one system *should* talk to another, student finance will be alerted that you are no longer a "currently studying" student and would pause your payments.

In terms of ongoing studies, it's better to have payments paused so that you don't lose any of the funding years you are entitled to through student finance. However, in terms of personal financial circumstances there may be different preferences.
