Student Accomodation for Apprentices

I'm looking into doing an Apprenticeship after completing my A-Levels (September 2025) and I was wondering whether apprentices are eligible for uni accommodation. I couldn't find any definite answer when I tried to search it online as some sites were claiming no because it is only available for full-time university students whereas others said it shouldn't matter. Does anyone know, if someone doing a Degree Apprenticeship at university XYZ could qualify for an accommodation?

I don't know, but anecdotally of the people I know doing degree apprenticeships: most lived at home around the area (up to ~1.5/2 hours away) and commuted in, a few rented flats (but more expensively), and then one lived in private-run student accommodation, so that's definitely possible.

Do you know if the employer covers the travel costs?

For the people I know, no, unless they're assigned to work at an office that isn't their main/assigned location, in which case all reasonable expenses covered, as it's travel for work. It's like a normal job (commute not covered, extra travel yes).

Edit: they all get paid pretty well though!

it can depend on the uni that the apprenticeship is partnered with and how they do student accommodation. It's unlikely you'll be given halls or a college like system tho. a lot of people privately rent or find house shares with other apprentices or travel from home if they live within a commutable distance. you could get in contact with the uni and employer if you're unsure

Usually a Degree Apprenticeship would be working 4 days a week with 1 day study either at uni or home. It would be unlikely that you could access university accommodation. I know one London Law firm that assisted an Solicitor Apprentice with local accommodation via their linked Estate Agents but the apprentice would be expected to pay for their accommodation out of their salary. Apply to whichever Apprenticeship you want, and then if you gain an offer of employment, you could contact them about accommodation. Hope that helps.
