Getting a year-long placement in the US
(I'm a US citizen so fortunately I wont have to worry about visa issues)
I have been researching placement opportunities for my placement year (2026) and have come to the conclusion that i'd like to do it in the US.
It seems like there is only openings for 'summer internships' which, at max, last 10 weeks. Howerver, I need the placement to be approximately a year long (summer to summer) in order for it to qualify as a 'Placement Year' with my university.
Does anyone have experience with applying to placements in the US?
Should I start emailing companies and enquire about maybe doing a year-long placement and if they'd even offer me that? Do US firms even do this?
