under review by department

is it normal that i've been under review by department for a month? Does it mean they're considering or something's wrong with my application?

No, applicants can stay under review for 3-4 months. All it means is that decisions can't be made on each application in isolation, they need to be made in the context of the whole applicant cohort. Applications carry on until March at least, and it might take that long to decide the strength of an application made in October.

Hi, if it makes you feel any better, you are not alone! I submitted my application by the funding deadline (December 3) and I'm still under department review. 🥲

I submitted mine for MPhil Modern European History on October 16th and am still under departmental review... These things take a lot of time and they usually wait to judge the entire pool of applicants before making a decision. Do not stress out about it as most applicants are still in this phase.
