should i buy a new laptop?

right now i have a microsoft surface 8 but the screen is cracked and a quarter of it shows up as black and the kickstand has completely broken off. ive had this laptop for 2 years now and to get it fixed will cost around £300-£400. im wondering if it's worth getting it completely fixed or buying a new laptop entirely. i was thinking of getting a macbook pro but obviously it's an investment - so should i stick with this broken laptop and fix it to use it for another year or buy a new laptop that i can keep using for 5 ish years?

Hi,

I’d recommend considering your long-term needs and budget. If repairing your Surface 8 will cost £300-£400 and it’s already two years old, it might not be the best investment, especially since other issues could arise. A MacBook Pro is a significant investment but offers excellent durability, performance, and a lifespan of 5+ years, which makes it worth considering if you can afford it. If funds are tight, repairing your current laptop could be a short-term solution, but upgrading now might save you money and hassle in the long run. Think about what best supports your studies and daily tasks!
