Just to swing the conversation round a bit, anybody any idea how likely a room change will be? Do people drop out often in Edinburgh?

Yeah, people do drop out, and some people even fail to turn up. People do swap, but with the number of people this year likely to be somewhat peeved at having to share with a randomer I don't think the numbers are on your side.

Initially I wasn't too keen, but going into it with a negative mindset is sure to bring that extra bit more disappointment. The best thing you can do is be open-minded.

Failing that, and you end up sharing with a real cock, which could happen, then your roomie will probably end up hating you as much as you hate them, thus making you feel better.

Good luck

Well, after much consideration I decided to accept my offer of shared accomodation in Chancellors court. Trying to look on the positive side of things! However, if you are in room 46 on the 3rd floor in chancellors court, i am pretty certain i am sharing a room with you. Kinda scary to be honest, but hey roomie! I concur to the vodka plan, although tequila is probably my preferred tipple. Also, yes my offer is unconditional firm.

I'm studying history and chinese, and perhaps japanese as an outside course. What are you studying?
Phew, to be honest its a relief that you said that! I am quite messy, but i'll try and be tidy as possible  Do you have facebook?

If you don't know already theres this facebook group for people living in Chancellors Court :http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=96425892535&ref=ts

Do you know if we get 2 wardrobes? I'm quite worried as I have quite a lot of clothes.

lmaoo me too, i literally have 3 big boxes and i havnt evn finished packing yet!! really worried about space but yes we do get two wardrobes! i reali need to stop shopping

I'm studying english lit and history an possibly italian as my outside course. nope don't have facebook...got really fed up of bebo/facebook,etc one day and just deleted them all.lol saves a lot of time!

my names probably confusing you, its very irish but pronounced aid-een. do u know many ppl going to edinbugh?
I'm flying to Edinburgh, so I can't really take that much stuff, I still can't stop shopping though! Shopping is my weakness and it doesn't help I work in a clothes shop, so I'm surrounded by temptation all the time.

Yeah, thats fair enough about the whole social networking thing, it is quite time consuming.

My name's Serrena, its pronounced just like Serena, but for some reason my dad decided to add an extra r to my name. I was wondering about your name, but its really cool, its unique. I don't know anyone going to edinburgh, I just wanted a change more than anything so I'm going far away from home as possible. Do you know many people going to edinburgh? Some of my friends applied to edinburgh, but none got in. Having said that I do have some relatives in edinburgh, so its not too bad.
When are you going to edinburgh?

Does anyone know if it just says "twin ensuite" on your accommodation offer does that mean two single beds or bunk beds? Or would they specify if it was a bunked room, like "bunked ensuite" or something?

By the way anybody 2nd floor chancellor's court with me?

Does anyone know what the policy is for getting deliveries to self catered flats? I'll be living in South College and am about to order my NUS Extra card but it takes 7-10 days to arrive so would it be ok to put down my South College street address for delivery? And does anyone know whether post comes direct to that address of whether you have to collect it from elsewhere?

If you're living in a flat you simply give the address of the flat. X/Y South College Street, Edinburgh, etc. where X is the building number and Y is your flat number. The post will come as often as people in your building let the postie in, and for some reason students are really bad at letting him in, but great at letting leafletters and randomers in... but it'll probably make it 4 days a week. And letters are automatically redelivered if they can't get in the first time around whilst parcels go to the sorting office or your nearest post office and you get a notice through your door (being an address in a UK city it get standard UK postal service)...

I'm going quite late, so I'll probably arrive late in the evening

around 9pm on a saturday.
