UCLAN Vet Med EAEVE accredited?

Hello,

I have been trying to find some information regarding the Veterinary Medicine and Surgery degree with UCLAN. I can see that it is expected to be accredited with RCVS which is great. However, I cannot find if it has EAEVE accreditations either? If it doesn’t, does it mean that it will only be possible to work as a vet in the UK if having a degree with that university?

Thanks for the information!

It is definitely not RCVS accredited, they have only just admitted their 2nd cohort. You cannot get RCVS accreditation until you have had a graduating cohort so they won’t get it for another 3.5 years. EAEVE will likely be next but I wouldn’t expect that for another 5years minimum

New schools only get accredited when their first cohort graduates if the RCVS believes that they have reached the required standard. It is only on gaining this accreditation that they can then work towards others. For example Surrey opened in 2014 and gained European accreditation in April this year, so 10 years later. Unfortunately you can’t retrospectively gain the accreditation if it wasn’t achieved whilst you were studying there

Hi @gizelamariya,

It's great to hear that you are interested in our BVMS Veterinary Medicine & Surgery programme. As you've mentioned, we are currently working towards RCVS accreditation. We will then be seeking EAEVE accreditation following RCVS accreditation. Our admissions team have confirmed that RCVS accredited Vets can work elsewhere in the world but you would need enquire directly with the RCVS or your relevant country accrediting body as to these locations.

If you have any questions at all, please do let me know.

Best wishes,
Sarah
