Hello,

It’s brilliant that you want to continue to study linguistics at Masters level, and so exciting to go abroad to do so!
Whilst I’m not a linguistics student myself, I think there are a number of factors your question raises which cross over lots of subjects.
When you’re deciding your career and further study location options, I think you need to consider a few questions:

1.

Ultimately would you like to work in a practical setting, or in academia? What career options are open to you? Have a look at prospects website and other similar sites as these provide lists of careers that specific courses lend themselves to. They will also detail institutions offering postgraduate degrees in this area.

2.

Is there a particular branch of linguistics that you would like to study? If so, research the institutions that cover this more closely in their courses.

3.

Is there a particular location abroad you would like to study? Does this have a strong linguistics department? Does this linguistics department focus on the area that you are most interested in?

Although you say you want study abroad it’s important that the course covers exactly the aspects of linguistics that you are interested in, otherwise you will not enjoy the course so much. Also you need to find a course that appeals to you in an area that you would be happy to live for the duration of the course as being isolated and miserable in the country will hinder your study and your student experience.
Could you ask advice from your tutors at your current institution? They will have a good knowledge of the broader, outside world of the field of linguistics. I would also speak to the careers department at your university. They will, I’m sure, be able to give you lots of help in finding a postgraduate degree, thinking about career options and helping you with your applications.
Best of luck with your exciting new career!
