Nottingham or York for Law?

Hey guys I have offers from both Notts and York for AAA, and I am torn on which to put as my insurance as i am firming my Durham offer. Which would you recommend and why? I really didn't like the law course at York but I haven't been to visit notts yet

Hello,

I would not put a university that you do not like as your insurance, because chances are that you may end up unhappy with the choice at the end. It is true that you do not have references about Nottingham either but there is no need to rush the decision. If able, I would try to visit the university and see whether you like it or not. In the event that you are unable to do that, I would say these forums are a good starting point to help you decide.

Best of luck!
Abian.

what were u predicted if i may ask??

also nottingham is very close together and social, loads of greenery and walking to be done. its law faculty is quite big and academic - loads of law students were studying around the place when i visited. the surrounding area of notts is very sociable, some may say different, but i think its decent. accomodation is okay inside campus; i prefer the ones outside campus tho. lots of sports and exercise to be done too!

york i havent been to, but from what ive heard its equally as decent, possibly a little less, but take that with a massive bag of salt.

u can search up pics of campus and accomodation if u prefer to get a better picture of what life would be like. but my advice is to pick a uni you think you'd thrive most in (physically, socially, emotionally, mentally, you name it) whilst doing well academically. for me, thats nottingham 😊

York has a weird assessment system that is basically all coursework but it encourages collaboration as you have daily meetings with your group and are assessed on your contributions. Nottingham is a traditional exam and coursework-based course. Both unis have a good reputation but Nottingham graduates are far more recruited by top employers than York. York is nicer to live in but Nottingham is the better university.
