I want to pursue a career in musical theatre but I wasn't given the same opportunities as a child that other people I know have. All my friends have either been in a theatre group, sang, or danced from a really young age but I have only been singing and dancing for a year upon realising this is the career path I want to take. I also got an A grade in GCSE drama and i'm still studying it now at A level. I've heard a lot about how it's a useless degree, it puts you in debt and is only good for teaching. But in my case would it benefit me to have this education before I depend on it as a stable career? Even if I did go to uni would I be too far behind other people in my ability to sing and dance. My dance skills aren't bad at all but the only thing is i'm not up to scratch with terminology and things but the rest is fine really. My singing isn't unbearable either like in my first lesson my teacher got me singing Not For The Life Of Me which she said she uses for her grade 7,8 and degree level students and I have sang it multiple times since with no issues. I know this doesn't make me the level of a grade 7,8 or degree level singer but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to explain. I'm thinking maybe Edge Hill Uni or maybe a better suited theatre school if I can find any close by that spark my interest. Sorry if it's a bad question but I'm stuck at this point!
