I’m stressed but only in year 8

I really want to get into a good university but I feel that I’m bad at maths, science and tons more. I really want to put in work but I keep procrastinating and i get a bad grade. My friends do not care about their grades which is probably fine bc I’m in year 8 but still. Idk, do u have any advice?

Don’t stress too much you’re only in Year 8, and there’s plenty of time to improve. Start small, like spending 20 minutes a day on a tricky topic, and use resources like BBC Bitesize or YouTube to help. Procrastination’s normal, but even starting for 5 minutes can make a difference. Focus on your goals, not what your friends are doing, and don’t forget to balance work with things you enjoy. Celebrate small wins, and remember: progress takes time!"

Hi, year 11 gcse student here! I can totally understand how you feel. But my advice is to not worry yet, you have years to improve, and you haven’t even started your gcse content yet, so the work you’ll be doing for your gcses will be different from now, if you are worried though, I’d suggest speaking to your subject teachers/tutor/HOY to see if any support could be put in place, that way they know that you are struggling with certain subjects and can help you improve. From my experience, many do improve in their learning, including me. Tha fact that you are worried though shows that you want to do well, and care about your education, which is your first step to progress! Any other questions feel free to ask:smile:

(Part 2) Also with universities, many only require a pass, some only in relevant subjects, which is very much achievable!
