Imperial rejection

Hello everyone

Hope you all had a nice Christmas and a happy new yr.

My son had an imperial application in Aerospace. His predictor is A*A*A*A*
But his ESAT was a bit avg 4.6

To date, he didn't get an interview or rejection

Should we assume his application will be rejected.

Really need to know how they assess

Thanks in advance 🙏
You shouldn’t make any assumptions until he receives a formal decision. We haven’t even reached the first application deadline yet.

Hey, I can’t give you an answer because I’m in year 12 so I don’t know, but I just want to say good luck to your son! Hopefully he gets accepted. And congrats to him on the 4 A* predicted grades, that’s amazing, he should be super proud!!!

I applied for universities back in 2016/17 - if it's of any help, I applied to Imperial and they did not get back to me until the very last day they could (I don't remember when that was - sometime in March/April, I think). So don't even think about it yet!

Did he apply after or before the October 15th early deadline? afaik no one who applied after has got an interview yet (they handle that batch later) and some who did apply before still haven't got anything.
Unless it's a no, it's probably nothing to worry about.
(also why is this in med schools)

theres still another round of ESATs and also UCAS application isn't over yet. Imperial is pretty well known for being late when it comes to their decisions, and considering your son has excellent grades (and a 4.6, while average, is enough to get you into cambridge anyway, so imperial is likely the same), i wouldn't lose hope!

I applied to Aero at Imperial with in October with A*A*A*A* and ESAT of 5.7. Rejected after interview last month. The course takes a very high proportion of international students (about 60%) so there are relatively few places for domestic students. Good luck though!

It is just getting harder every year. We still haven't heard anything yet, but we probably can't expect anything either.
Good luck to everyone

if it gives you hope, apparently international students in the UK reached their peak and will likely decline from this point.

Hi, just wondering whether your son has heard back as yet? Hope he has an offer he is happy with

Imperial will have waited until the end of January application deadline before reviewing applications. I would expect most decisions / offers to go out in mid to late March. [I work in admissions but not at Imperial.]
