south east London sixth forms.

I just finished applying to townley grammar, wilmington grammar and Beth’s grammar for sixth form but I haven’t attended any open evenings yet. Can anyone who goes to these schools sixth forms or nearby tell me what it’s like going there?? How is it like doing townley’s elective programme?

Hi!
I am currently attending townley, I'm in year 10- idk what an elective program is but I can tell you what it's like. I know what it's like since I had people I know go to the sixth form but in general, it depends on the subjects you'll choose to do. For example, I would say if you go for A level science, I would recommend as we have quite a handful of good teachers(imo) if you get them. In terms of education, u probs know Beths as the popular one but it comes down to the separate results that come out of each A level. For example, philosophy and ethics in townley gives much better results than in Beths. Not sure about Wilmington. Sixth formers have to wear formal, for example boys wear blazer and trousers and what not and girls wear a blazer and skirt in black. They have their own cafe in the school that no one is allowed to go to apart from them 😔 but they also have access to the main school lunch hall like me. Sixth formers here often lead a lot of clubs and events, so if you like leading or speaking in assemblies I think you would like it. They also have a senior choir(if ur interested ofc) which is really good. I think that's all, but if you have any more questions lmk!
Best Wishes 😊

thanks!! seems like the townley sixth form is very similar to the sixth form my secondary school offers (they also have a cafe, canteen, clubs etc). I’m gonna study bio chem and geo so I’ll probably just compare A-level results

i'm in yr11 rn and am planning to continue at townley and I would say there's a big community spirit if you're into that kinda thing and we have a lot of events for sixth formers like children in needs day (basically you can dress up as anything), cultural days (this is for everyone), talent shows and more. in terms of electives, i've heard its quite good and based on your al evel choices, im assuming ur doing medicine and one of the electives is ucat prep so that would be useful, and theres also alot of other choices based on what you're intrested in (i think on the website theres a list of different. there are some bad biology teachers i think but alot of them are good so it should be fine! in terms of beths, i haven't heard the best things about it but i think it would be better to hear from an actual student there but i think we have a better alevel average. also sixth formers cant go out during free periods at townley for yr12 ( it think they can in yr13) but they can at lunch. anyway gl
