Out of curiosity, what solution do you propose?

For me, unless you change the levels of accountability on schools and in turn on teachers, there will never be a reduction in the pressure put on pupils.

You just know that the people signing this are the ones with bad predicted grades.

Or good you mean.

I’d support reforms to GCSEs in England (the linear exam system is terrible in my opinion), but scrapping them? Nah.

Reforms, yes. But you can't get rid of them.

Maybe one day but it would have to be phased out in my opinion rather than it happening overnight (so you slowly move towards having more continuous assessment for example until they’re eventually phased out).

But some subjects absolutely need GCSE exams in my opinion (as in GCSE exams should never be scrapped for these subjects).

What about homeschoolers? It's already expensive enough to have to pay for the exams, not to mention the hassle and expense of getting a moderator/tutor to asses over such a long period of time.

I mean in that case exceptions would have to be made (especially for those who genuinely can’t go to a brick and mortar school for whatever reason) but the point I’m trying to make is that even if you were to scrap GCSEs (not something I’d fully support), it should be done phases rather than what the OP is proposing.

Scrapping GCSEs in 2025 (overnight scrapping)? Hell no, even during COVID I was against this.

Scrapping them in 10-20 years from now (not that I’d support this)? Maybe, if you do it in stages.

But right now, I’d personally support GCSEs in England being reformed rather than scrapped.

its going around that there might be gcses cancelled due to HPMV and ik first hand from my school teachers they said likely that gcses might not go ahead and they will use our mock grades. also teachers in my school r collecting evidence of our grades and tests and whatnot- exam plan B and even. my teachers said they need our important evidence. also 2025 papers r leaked and apparently there will be no gcse due to. a data leak and kier is gonna make an announcement. omg who would be against gcses being scrapped it causes so much mental pressure btw people in other countries around the world have to pay for every gcse exam in schools - I do when I sit mine and not just homeschoolers! gcses need to be scrapped honestly idk what human on earth who does not want them to be scrapped or not taken like covid

no there r people who get stressed cuz of exams and there r SEND kids as well I get 8/9s because I put my self through stress, anxiety and depression just to get the stupid grades SCRAP THE GCSES

While I agree it's stressful and a horrible time for everyone I don't think it should be scrapped. It's an obstacle in life that should be completed and I'm not saying it's for everyone, but I think scrapping it is not the course of action.

Okay, but why should they be scrapped for everyone?
