no there r people who get stressed cuz of exams and there r SEND kids as well I get 8/9s because I put my self through stress, anxiety and depression just to get the stupid grades SCRAP THE GCSES

Yeah I wasn't doing too well in terms of stress/anxiety during exam season either but you can't just scrap the whole thing. The system that @Talkative Toad suggested would actually make sense, but it would be hard on homeschoolers.

Yeah, I had bad mocks but good actual results.

also an exam DOES NOT DEFINE. A PERSON u can get nervous etc and thats facts. there could be quizzes r something but not these gcses scrap em they were put in place bc at the time they were created skl leaving age was 16 but its not anymore its 18 lol even the lord in the Houses of Parliament wants to scrap them imagine that - hope it gets to 10k signatures and scrap the hideous thing the amount of stress, anxiety depression it causes my god

I agree with this to an extent but still do not support scrapping GCSEs (definitely not in 2025 as opposed to them being phased out or as opposed to changing the syllabus/method of assessment).

its going around that there might be gcses cancelled due to HPMV and ik first hand from my school teachers they said likely that gcses might not go ahead and they will use our mock grades. also teachers in my school r collecting evidence of our grades and tests and whatnot- exam plan B and even. my teachers said they need our important evidence. also 2025 papers r leaked and apparently there will be no gcse due to. a data leak and kier is gonna make an announcement. omg who would be against gcses being scrapped it causes so much mental pressure btw people in other countries around the world have to pay for every gcse exam in schools - I do when I sit mine and not just homeschoolers! gcses need to be scrapped honestly idk what human on earth who does not want them to be scrapped or not taken like covid

I’ve not seen a single teacher predict (no pun intended) that GCSEs would be scrapped this year. Asked a teacher this question right now and they’ve said nope.

Same. My mocks were terrible and then I learnt what to do for my actual exams and achieved what I wanted and got into a good sixth form. I agree

I highly doubt they will. They said there would never be a lockdown again and I've not heard a word from the news, my school or any teachers mention anything at all

There isn't going to be another lockdown, and GCSEs won't be scrapped no matter how much you try yelling online about it.

Yeah. Technically homeschoolers don’t have to follow the National curriculum however unless I’m mistaken here, and more countries like France, the USA and heck it looks like Scotland as well to an extent, seems to have a bit more of an emphasis on continuous assessment.

At university (most universities) it’s the same thing. You have both coursework and exams, and you’re assessed in a more modular format. It’s not a case of ok cram all of this 1st year content of your degree then at the end of the second semester we’ll test you on all of it pen and paper, closed book and that’s 100% of your final grade.

It’s just for secondary school, England is being sloppy in my opinion (I strongly dislike the linear exam system).

But regardless, I still wouldn’t support scrapping GCSEs in 2025 (or fully scrapping exams in general), I’d focus more on long-term reform. I am (very) pro-exams even during the pandemic, I was (staunchly) against exams being scrapped. CAGs were a disaster.
