Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas break!

How are you feeling about going back to university after Christmas? Does anyone have any tips for getting back into the work mindset?

Hi!

My best advice for getting back into the workload for semester two is to get onto of things and stay organised. Use the break to rest but plan for the semester ahed - whether that is budgeting or noting down deadlines, staying organised can help take some of the pressure off of the semester.

Hope this helps! Faye 🙂

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a relaxing and joyful Christmas break! 🎉

Getting back into the university mindset after the holidays can feel a bit challenging, but it’s also a great time to set fresh goals and start strong. Here are a few tips that might help:

1. Ease into it with a plan
Write down your key deadlines and assignments. Having a clear picture of what’s coming up can help reduce stress.
Start with lighter tasks to rebuild your focus before diving into the heavier workload.

2. Set small, achievable goals
Break down your work into manageable pieces. Ticking things off a list gives a great sense of progress!

3. Stick to a routine
Re-establish your sleep and study schedules as soon as possible. A consistent routine helps your brain switch back to “study mode.”

4. Reconnect with peers
Study with friends or join group discussions to share ideas and keep each other accountable.

Hi

This is a great idea, I thought I would add a few of my suggestions.

1) Have a look back at what you was studying before Christmas, this is because if your are continuing modules from before Christmas many module will have a flow so one thing relates to the next. By taking a look at the past content it will help you to get it all fresh in your mind.

2) Make a list of all your upcoming exams/ assignments - by doing this it will help to guide you to your end goal.

I hope this helps & good luck in any upcoming exams.

Hey @LHU Lottie!

Great idea for a thread!

My top tip for starting back to university after Christmas is to reflect on the past term and decide what parts of your university life/experience you want to improve. If you didn't find the opportunity to join a society in the first term, why not join now? Equally, if you missed a couple of lectures and want to improve your attendance going forward or want to form stronger friendships with your coursemates, this is a great chance to try and change that.

Remember to give yourself time to adjust after the holidays as well - it might take you a couple of days to fall back into your usual university schedule! 🙂

Happy New Year!

I see some excellent tips have been shared! Here are some tips I'd love to share:

Schedule
Getting back into studying can be difficult, however creating a schedule can make this process much easier. This schedule could include classes, part time jobs, independent study times alongside times for you to relax. Following a schedule can bring you back into the flow of university quickly. 🗓️

Goals
Having clear goals will allow you to stay on top of new assignments. You could begin by listing what you desire to achieve within semester 2 and from there create achievable goals. Personally, a goal of mine is to complete a section of my assignment each week in order to match the pace the content is taught. 📑

Socialise
Getting back to university can be daunting, however talking with friends, classmates and more can make it easier to settle in. Planning a catch up with friends can make the idea of heading back to university more exciting as you have something to look forward to. ☕️

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,

I personally believe that habit is second nature, so main tip from is - start building new healthy and helpful habits, such as revision sessions in the evening, reading, sleep habits, healthy food, etc. It really helps, especially when you are doing it consciously and with the aim in mind.

Take care,
Ilya

Hi Lottie!

This is a great idea and I thought I could add some of my tips in here too!

1.

Try and be organised from the start. I am guilty of always saying that I will start my assignments straight away and keep up with them each week, but not actually doing it so this year I am trying to do this. When I came back to uni after Christmas last year I started this and it was actually really helpful so my biggest tip would be to try and do this from the start!

1.

Make a plan of what you want to achieve this semester. I find it helps to write out some goals of what you want to do and what you want to achieve this year as this keeps me accountable and I actually do some of the things on my list!

1.

Make a budget and stick to it from the start. Again, I am guilty of going over my budget at first as I am excited to be back with all my friends, but it just makes the end of the month/semester harder in terms of money so try and stick to this from the start!

1.

Try something new. Join a society, join the gym or just do something new and different! It's a new year so a perfect time to start something new!

1.

Get in touch with your friends and make sure you arrange something fun to do with them! This can help you to ease back into your uni life again so make sure you do this!

I hope some of this helps 🙂
